FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE! Telluride Musicfest presents four chamber concerts. Additionally, there is an amateur night featuring musically talented non-professionals, a children's concert in conjunction with the Telluride Academy, and open rehearsals for subscribers. The Musicfest also gives a scholarship every year to a local music student. In the founding ensemble, Trio Solisti, described by the critics as "three of the most sought after artists of their generation," performed programs including masterworks of Beethoven, Mendelssohn Schubert, Ravel and Shostakovich. Branching out from the classical tradition, Musicfest has presented Le Grand Tango, Jazzy Classics, Americans in Paris and music of American composers. Maria Bachmann, artistic director of Musicfest and the trio's violinist, promises that "what you will hear at our concerts are the pieces we most enjoy playing". Trio Solisti is violinist Maria Bachmann, pianist Jon Klibonoff and cellist Alexis Pia Gerlach. As a trio they tour all over the country and individually they have performed with major orchestras and festivals the world over. Jun 26, 2010 - Jul 8, 2010: LE FAIR AFFAIRE
A night of art, music, performance, film screenings and culinary tasting. Featuring the surreal underwater fine art photography of Scott Rhea along with a behind the scenes documentary on the making of this one of a kind project. Guest artists also include renown Cuban artist Rolando Diaz who will be painting live and will have several works on display. PBS has recently released a documentary ( "Re-capturing Cuba") on Diaz which which will be shown in its entirety during the screening. Other guests will include The Adventures of Rodeo and Juliet musical duo from Nashville. Culinary sampling by La Marmotte Chef Mark Regginini, and a screening of the award winning film short "The Butterfly Circus". Complimentary Child care from Toddler Town with validated entry.
